Prior to reading Tiger Woods' comments on his current situation I was empathic with his plight. After all he is only human and is going to make mistakes. In his letter posted on www.tigerwoods.com he alludes to wanting to handle these issues in privacy, and refers to his privacy as a virtue. Unfortunately, Mr. Wood,s privacy is not a virtue but a choice! Instead of whining that you don't have some, simple human measure of privacy, like most celebrities, why don't you take a bold stand and choose to have a simple measure of privacy. If you want privacy take down your web site, http://www.tigerwoods.com, make your twitter, facebook and other social networking accounts private. Quit selling the 'Tiger Woods' brand, thereby exchanging your privacy for money. You can't have it both ways! You can't assert a public persona and then complain about it. Even on your site where you have posted your request for privacy you have links to your 'public' properties and ads that further erode your privacy. What is it going to be Tiger?

Eric Gagne blows his first save chance as brewers closer aganist the cubs today but the brewers still won the game in the 10th inning. Red Sox didn't lose anything when they dumped him

How can anyone not love the patriots? A team of vastly different personalities has banded together to achieve the ultimate goal in team sports. They have completed only the second undefeated regular season in nfl history, and regardless if they win or lose in the playoffs they have achieved ‘the perfect season’. Life in the NFL is a lot different now than in ’72 when the dolphins went undefeated and it’s sad to hear them saying the patriots will only match their record if they win the super bowl. As soon as the patriots passed the mid-point of the season the media started talking about the perfect season and teams begin preparing for them differently. The Ravens who should have beat them, played the regular season game as if it was there super bowl. Teams started taking bigger chances trying everything to knock them off! The Giants played their starters the entire game of a meaningless last game of the season. There are huge games for the Colts and Cowboys this Sunday, I wonder what they will do? 8 games ago Don Shula said an undefeated season would be tarnished by spygate. How does he feel now? I’m glad to see the’72 dolphins team taken off their pedestal, they have displayed how little class they have passing the torch down to the pats. This patriots team is the best team in the history of the NFL.

Bill Parcels was a great coach with the Giants in the ‘80s, and had some success a little later with the Pats. His next two returns to coaching didn’t result in any big successes. He spent three yeard with the Jets and 4 with the Cowboys. Over those 7 years he was, 63-49 and only went to the playoffs 3 times. In 7 years he won 1 playoff game. When he left the cowboys after two consecutive 9-7 seasons it was evident his best days were behind him. How can the dolphins give him the most lucrative contract of any coach or gm in history? He is going to spend a couple years retooling the franchise then leave it a complete mess!
Baseball’s steroid disaster continues to spiral out of control. Curt Schilling who has been vocal about Barry Bond’s home run records not standing if he is guilty of using steroids, had called out Roger Clemens. Clemens who is the biggest loser in the Mitchell report has been silent about the allegations with the exception of his agent’s response. Schilling says Clemens should return the four Cy Young Awards he has won since 1997 if he can’t clear his name from the report. Major League Baseball needs more players like Schilling. I agree with Curt and think Clemens should forfeit the awards. What do you think?

Do you think Cal Ripken took performance enhancing drugs?
Two years ago in Carson Palmer’s name was repeatedly mentioned when the top quarterbacks in the AFC were discussed. Marvin Lewis was still new in town and everyone thought the young Cincinnati team would be challenging the Colts and Patriots for the AFC title for years to come! That was before the playoff game against the Steelers, before Palmer hurt his knee. Palmer has one of the best receivers in the game with Chad, a good sporting cast, but is having his worst year since his rookie year. In 2005 many people thought Carson and Chad were going to become one of the best QB/Receiver combos in history. Could they be as good as Montana/Rice, Aikman/Irving, Manning/Harrison and now Brady/Moss? Now the Bengals have returned to the bottom of the AFC north division, and Carson’s 22/17 TD/INT ratio this year if far from his 32/12 of 2005. Their loss to the lowly 49ers last night is just another reminder of how far from the cream the Bengals have sunk. The Browns have taken the Bengals place and Derek Anderson has taken Palmer’s place in the top quarterbacks in the AFC. The Bengals need to make a change during the off season, and there are many decisions to make. I don’t think Palmer or Marvin Lewis will be in Cincinnati next season.

Andy Pettitte stepping forward and validating the reference to him in the Mitchell report puts a lot of other players in a bad position. First I think it is very admirable for Pettitte to come forward, admit his mistake and apologize for his lapse in judgement. Thanks for taking the first step Andy. For me, and other fans it will be easier to put the steroid era behind us if the players treat us at though we have a little common sense. There’s an old Spanish proverb ‘If three people call you an ass, put on a bridle’. Roger Clemens and Miguel Tejada that means you! Hopefully more players, including Clemens and Tejada, will step forward, acknowledge the truth, and take responsibility for their actions. Until this happens the steroid era will never have closure!
